UIO 014 Banos Gateway to the Amazon - 2Days/1Night daily only by private service.

Day 1: Depart Quito towards the south highlands, drive along the “Avenue of the Volcanoes”. Weather permitting, the first giant to be seen is the volcano Cotopaxi , the world´s highest active snow capped volcano, among other Andean elevations. Lunch at a family owned place. Visit to a rose plantation, which will prove to be a feast to the eyes and a learning experience of the rose production industry (available from Mon to Fri). Headed east, start to descend to the valley of Patate , to the sub-tropical region where Baños is located. Baños is known as the “gateway to the Amazonia ”, with some luck observation of the active volcano Tungurahua ejecting its impressive fumaroles. Overnight in Baños

Day 2: Breakfast. After visiting Baños, we head down into the Pastaza river canyon to the so called "Avenue of Waterfalls" where we encounter the Bride's Mantle, Machay, Pailón del Diablo, all of which lie along the riverbed of the Pastaza, surrounded by green lush vegetation. The tallest waterfall, Pailón del Diablo (the Devil's Cauldron) can be observed from a breathtaking suspension bridge. Return to Quito

UIO 015 Otovalo market & surroundings- 2Days/1Night daily only by private service.

Day 1: Leaving Quito north along the Panamerican Highway we drive across colorful valleys. Guayllabamba valley, an important area producing avocado and the local chirimoya fruit (custard apple). Cayambe valley on the other hand, traditionally dedicated to dairy cattle and manufacturing of dairy products, in the last three decades, has seen an important boom in rose farming. The region offers great photo opportunities and after two hours of traveling through Andean countryside, we arrive to the province of Imbabura, known as the “Ecuadorian lake province”.Visit the Otavalo market, the better known market in South America , in as far as, to the gentle and soft spoken Otavalo Indians; attired with beautiful and unique costumes. Interaction with the local people is given to the visitor through the process of bargaining, which is the fun element in the negotiations, while purchasing woven goods both in sheep´s wool and cotton, as well as, hats, belts, bags, jewelry and more. Tourist´s photography paradise. Arrival in Peguche known for the textiles produced with traditional looms and handcrafted wind instruments where you can observe demonstrations of the making and the playing of native music. Visit Condor Park , rescue center for a variety of birds of prey, weather permitting we can attend a falconry show. Overnight in a local hacienda.

Day 2: Breakfast. Visit San Antonio de Ibarra, this entire small town is dedicated to the wood carving of utilitarian items and artistic sculptures. Then head to Cotacachi, a town which features leatherwork including bags, jackets, hats, gloves and belts ; and Cuicocha Crater Lake, wonderful scenery dominated by mountains and moorland scenes adorned with native plants. Return to Quito.

UIO 015A Otovalo market & Chaski Route - 2Days/1Night Operated Tue/Wed/Fri/Sat by private and sharing services

Day 1: Depart for a 2days/1 night package to Otavalo & the Chaski route: departing Quito to the northern highlands of Ecuador, stunning views of valleys such as Guayllabamba and Pisque. Unique “in situ” opportunity to learn about the formation of the Andes Cordilleras. Photo stops of the snowcapped volcanoes Cayambe and with some luck, Cotopaxi. We will drive through rose farming and quilt patched country side with corn, potatoes, quinoa and broad beans fields. Arrival in the province of Imbabura, the “lake province of Ecuador This tour offers several alternatives, one of which is the visit to the town of Cotacachi known for the manufacture of leather goods: jackets, bags, belts, wallets. Visit Cuicocha crater lake, excellent opportunity to see such an unusual formation of a lake, flanked by peaks and native flora, such as orchids, altitude cacti. Within the Cuicocha lake reserve, visit the Interpretation Centre, special attention will be given to the explanation in a graphic way, to the formation of a crater lake. Weather and time permitting, small treks will be taken to observe the local flora. Overnight in a traditional hacienda

Day 2: After breakfast, visit the Otavalo market, the better known market in South America, in as far as, to the gentle and soft spoken Otavalo Indians; attired with beautiful and unique costumes. Continue to drive further north to the city of Ibarra to start with the train ride that travels on an early 20 th century railroad system, built to connect the northern Andes and the Pacific coast. A two-hour ride, dropping from over 8,000 ft. to almost half this altitude, embraces high altitude vegetation, dry zones with bromeliad and pear cacti ending in a sub-tropical zone with sugar cane plantations. The main attraction of this ride is the travelling through tunnels and bridges following the canyon of river Ambi. Arrival in Salinas, an Afro- Ecuadorian village to enjoy lunch (included) and cultural experiences. This project is an effort to boost the economy and the safe keeping of the cultural roots of the region. Return to Quito, via Cayambe valley and drop off at your hotel

Day 1: Departure from Quito passing by the “ Avenue of the Volcanoes ” first stop Cotopaxi volcano, the highest active volcano in the world and the Limpiopungo Lagoon formed by the volcano's glaciers. Great opportunity to observe the eruptions happened long time ago, and its flora and fauna. Lunch included at a local hosteria; followed by a visit to an Indigenous Market near the area (if available this day). Overnight at a traditional Hacienda in Lasso.

Day 2: After breakfast, visit to the region of Tigua , home of the naif paintings done in lamb skin and wood carving manufacture of figurines (wood masks) that represents the animals of the traditional folkloric festivities of the region. Visit to Zumbahua, indigenous community famous for its handicrafts and colourful beautiful ponchos. Opportunity for visitors to share time with its people and to enjoy an impressive Andean landscape while observing native Andean animals such as llamas. After this sightseeing, begin with the descent to the volcanic lagoon of Quilotoa , turquoise and green waters surrounded by mountains full of ancient tales. Box lunch and return to Quito.

UIO 017 Pathway through the Andes & Banos descending to the Coast- 4Days/3Night Daily except Sundays
Day 1: Early departure, driving to the south of Quito, via the Avenue of the Volcanoes, you will able to observe the Cotopaxi volcano (a spectacular sightseeing among others), continue to Banos that is an important pilgrimage center where you can say your prayers at its beautiful colonial church, walk around the city and you may try the famous local specialties juices or Melcochas, both made from sugar cane Then continue to visit the Paillon del Diablo waterfall – the largest waterfalls in the area observed from a dramatic suspension bridge. After lunch (not included) drive to Riobamba for a panoramic view and accommodations at Hacienda Abraspungo.
 
Day 2: Start your day with a drive through some of the most picturesque indigenous areas of the country, before reaching the Alausí train station. Enjoy a box lunch. If there is availability, sit on the top of the carriages for an exciting adventure through the engineering wonder of the area known as the ¨Devil’s Nose´. On the road again visit the Ingapirca ruins (lunch or lunch box included). Continue to Cuenca for overnight. Accommodation at Hotel Santa Lucia.
 
Day 3: Visit the prettiest colonial city in the country. After breakfast let its cobblestone streets, graceful wrought-iron balconies, and flowered plazas captivate you. Visit to the Banco Central Museum, which has permanent archaeological, ethnographic colonial and republican art collections, as well as old photographs of Cuenca.After this visit the Conceptas Monastery. The cloister, built between 1682 and 1729. The cloister contains an unusual collection of religious art. Straw-hat export enterprise visit is scheduled in the afternoon.Accommodation at Hotel Santa Lucia.
  
Day 4: Breakfast. Departure to the coast passing through El Cajas National Park. Enjoy lunch. This area is known for its beautiful landscapes with at least 200 lagoons like the famous La Toreadora. This path takes you from 13,100 feet (4000 meters) to sea level in 3 hours, making it possible to observe the different habitats in Ecuador: the moorlands, the Andean forest and the subtropical forest.Then continue to Guayaquil , drop off at airport or hotel (accommodation is not inlcuded)
